Utilise RHYTHM in your classroom!
Combining two ideas together creates something new.
Here is what we did.
"Rhythm and rhyme help unlock memories and words set to music are remembered easier than other methods." The Head of Psychology and Theory of Knowledge teacher at King George V School, Ray Heath knew that music can bring psychological, emotional, social and academic benefits to her students who were studying content-heavy curriculum based on standardised testing.
She then applied that knowledge by inviting me and creating a programme called PsychJam. Together, we worked with 60 students over two long sessions and the result was positive. Over 80% of Year-11 got grade 8+ and 63% of Year-10 got 8+ in tests.
"The sessions provided an environment that nurtured engagement and feelings of success", said Ray. The students were so happy having much needed fun and reconnecting with their classmates after a long period of online learning.
