Community Drum Jam
around a bonfire
on the beach
Sat. 1. 1. 2022
Following last month's popular session, we are gathering this Saturday around a bonfire to start the New Year in celebration, playfulness and connection with family and friends. Join us for uplifting rhythm, song and dance!
Bring your own drinks, snacks and marshmallows (and anything else you'd like!). Seats and musical instruments will be provided to ticket holders with advance bookings only. There are four ticket type options to choose from - please see details on the Booking Form.
Ticket sales will end at 1pm today as we will only bring the number of drums pre-booked.
Join us in a big online celebration for our planet with fun-packed, interactive music-making on Earth Day weekend. Kumi Masunaga, a Hong Kong-based Japanese percussionist and the Founder of Drum Jam, will be your guide on Zoom. She will be joined by musicians and groups from around the world for this very special event.
In order to connect people in different time zones around the world, we are offering two x 1-hour sessions. It's an exciting opportunity to play music with people all around this precious planet! See the list below for details of timing for your location.
It’s open to people of all ages (yes, children are welcome). Bring a bucket, a DIY shaker or any kind of “Found Sound” musical instrument in your home. If you have a hand drum, percussion and/or other musical instrument, you are welcome to use them. Prior music experience is not necessary.
This event is free – and donations are welcome. All donations will go to the charity we have chosen, Big Life Foundation, a non-profit organisation focused on wildlife conservation in East Africa through unique community-based strategies.
Daniel Sambu (photo), a Maasai tribesman, will be joining us from Kenya in Session #2.
“Drumming cuts through all boundaries – gender, age, race, social hierarchy. It is the most accessible form of music and is a great tool for positive, non-verbal communication
that transforms us from
"me" to "we". ” - Kumi M.
⭐️ Each session is 1 hour. You’re welcome to attend both sessions if you wish!
⭐️ We want to see everyone, so please switch on your Zoom video - if you can't or don't want to do that, please do not register.
⭐️ By registering using the online booking system, you are deemed to have agreed to our terms and conditions.
⭐️ Once you sign up, we’ll send you a confirmation email. If you don't see it in your inbox, please check your spam box.

Voices from participants in previous events
This was a lovely and fun event. Your energy and playfulness are refreshing and uplifted me. Thank you Kumi.
Thank you for guiding us to reach our innate rhythms. I feel both connection and free through sound. We need more people in the world like you!
Being in the moment with others and able to release and be creative with a sense of privacy; I would usually feel a little reserved to sing if everyone could hear me.
The journey helped me to open up, be uplifted and to find deep freedom within; a whole new experience for me!
Loved the creative session in which I could imagine myself walking in a jungle listening to bird's song. I feel relaxed.
Thank you for creating a space for us to share our voice and embody the creativity within us.
